On a Mission to Eliminate Preventable Heart Attacks for Good

Our founder, Dr. Maulik Majmudar, is a cardiologist who received medical training at some of the best institutions in the world: Johns Hopkins Hospital, Brigham & Women's Hospital, and Mass General Hospital. But before any of that, he was a young boy who lost his grandfather far too soon. A massive heart attack — the "widowmaker" — took his grandfather in his sleep in his early 50s. No warning signs. No second chances.

That story isn't rare. It's the reality for hundreds of thousands of families each year.

As a physician, Maulik has seen this story repeat itself again and again — in exam rooms, in emergency departments, and on the other end of too many phone calls to shocked loved ones. And what's worse: it's often preventable.

Despite decades of medical progress, we still rely on outdated tools — like risk calculators and cholesterol scores — to guess who's at risk. Millions of people are told they're "low risk" right before a life-changing event. Meanwhile, others are placed on decades-long medications like statins with no clear evidence they actually need them.

That's not good enough. And it's not how any other specialty in medicine works. We don't treat cancer based on a risk calculator. We don't treat infections without testing. So why are we treating the #1 killer in America — heart disease — this way?
